Good morning North Stars! Today is a B day. Recess will be outside today.

The Glow Dance is tonight from 6-8pm. Admission is free for PTSO members and $5 for anyone else. Doors will be locked at 6:15pm, no late arrivals past that time and no outside guests. The dance is only for current North Middle School students. Concessions and glow items are available for purchase. New, just added - Glow in the Dark Mini Golf will be available for $5 cash only. Please bring cash if you want to play a round of mini golf! Admission, concessions and glow items you can purchase with cash or a credit card. Drop off and pick up will be on Garfield Dr. Please note due to an event in the auditorium, parking will be extremely limited during pick up. Please do not live park on Garfield for pick up. If your child is not out yet, please keep moving along, think airport drop off and pick up!

HOSA members drop off your pink sheet and $20 to Mrs Poetzel by 10/16. Our next meeting is Tuesday after school.

The 8th grade girls basketball team beat Thomas Jefferson Middle School of Port Washington 44-28! It was a tough game where every player contributed to the win! Brady Robers lead the way with 9 points, Kylee Campbell scored 8 and Mia Callies and Morgan Schunk each scored 5, with Morgan hitting a clutch halfcourt 3 pointer at the buzzer of the 1st half! Allie Hatchell, Maya Filipovic, Olivia Luepke and Penny Driskell played outstanding defense, Gigi Senske scored some much needed points and Aubrey Rivers was dropping dimes to her teammates and getting to the line for some clutch baskets! Nice job team!

Tryouts for Boys’ Basketball begin on Monday, October 26th. Basketball is open to all 7th and 8th grade boys and you must be registered online and cleared to participate prior to the first day of tryouts.

Please take a moment to check out the Lost and Found. It is getting full of sweatshirts, water bottles and even a single shoe! If you’re missing something, please check there. Didn’t know we have a lost and found? It’s located right outside the Health Room, across from the Cafeteria entrance doors.

Cross Country - Practice starts on Thursday, September 3rd after school until 4:00pm. Athletes report to the cafeteria on Wednesdays for athletic study hall from 1:20-2:45. We will meet on the track. Here is the meet schedule.

7th/8th Grade Girls Basketball - Practice starts on Thursday, September 3rd and is after school until 4:15pm. Here is the game schedule

Wrestling - Season starts on Monday, November 2nd after school until 4:45pm. Wrestling is open to all 6th through 8th grade students. Here is the meet schedule.

Activities

Art Club - Art club is a creative after school activity where students will be making art and doing other creative activities. Examples of activities include, Inktober, Empty Bowls, Extreme Hand Turkeys, Open Studio days, and more! Students are permitted to bring their own art supplies, however supplies are provided for all students who need them. Art club is perfect for all students who want a little more creativity in their lives. Meets monthly on Mondays from 2:40pm - 4pm in Rooms 216-217. Here is the schedule for the remainder of the semester.

Builders Club - Do you like to help others? Participate in fun activities that help our school or community? Builders Club may be the club for you! We meet 1-2 times per month and focus on spreading care and kindness to others. We serve our school and community with activities and projects that come from your interests. So join us as we plan our first few months of projects! Here’s the meeting schedule for the remainder of the year.

FBLA - Come join our State Championship FBLA team! FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. It is a national organization for students with an interest in developing their professional and leadership skills. Open to all 6th-8th graders. The first meeting date is Wednesday, September 30th in the LMC from 1:25pm - 1:50pm. Here is the link to the meeting calendar. Be sure to stop by Mr. Peot’s room to pick up your packet of information and join the FBLA Schoology group.

Game Club - Do you love playing word games, strategy games, and card games? Is family game night just not enough? The first meeting date will be announced soon as will the remaining meeting schedule. Everyone is welcome! The first meeting is Tuesday, September 29th until 4pm in the LMC. Game Club will meet on Tuesdays after school.

GSA - GSA provides a safe and welcoming environment for ALL students. It is a place where all students are accepted, supported, and can just simply be themselves. Free Space is a time for students to socialize and connect with each other while feeling part of a community. We will be meeting once a month, typically on the 2nd Tuesday, from 2:35-3:30 in the BIO. The first meeting is Tuesday, October 13th. Be prepared to come relax and have some fun! ALL students are welcome to join!!

HOSA - HOSA or Health Occupation Student Association is for any current 7^th or 8^th graders who have an interest in the health care field. We have speakers, health care opportunities and a state level competition. See any 7^th grade science teacher for more information. The next meeting is Tuesday, October 13th until 3:15 in room 113. In addition to registering online on North's Activity page, there is also a $20 fee to HOSA State and National. Please bring your pink sheet and $20 for the HOSA State and National registration to the meeting or turn into Mrs.Poetzel by Friday, October 16th.

LINK - A supervised, after school study hall is held on most Tuesdays ( Room 218) and Thursdays (Room 111) until 4pm. Please see the link for the schedule and more information.

Mountain Bike Club - If you are participating in the Mountain Bike team, please make sure your student is registered online, under the NMS Activity page.

National Junior Honor Society - Attention all members of National Junior Honor Society! Our first meeting will take place after school in the LMC on Monday, September 14th until 3:10pm. Please join us to hear about upcoming service projects, officer roles, and our goals for the year!

Johnson Bus Reminders

Just a reminder that you can email absences or appointments during the school day to our attendance office at attendancenms@sdmfschools.org. This email is always monitored by a staff member. You can also enter the absence yourself on the PowerSchool Parent Portal (not available on the app) You can also call the attendance office at 262-255-8496 to report absences or appointments.

If you are taking the bus home with a friend, you must have a note signed by your parent that you bring to the Attendance office to have approved, signed and stamped. Johnson Bus will not allow you on another bus without this signed and stamped

note. This applies to getting off your bus at a different stop.

Watch as the park transforms from "Thrills by Day" to "Fright by Night."Our Back to School Weekends allow you to purchase tickets which can be used to visit Fright Fest on September 25, 26, 27, October 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12, 2026. Jr. Chargers Lacrosse - Interested in trying out Lacrosse? The Hamilton Jr. Chargers are hosting 2 free Lacrosse try it events for students in K-12 in the Falls, Germantown, and Hamilton school districts! No experience necessary, and all equipment provided. Come be a part of something!

Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest - The Elks Hoop Shoot, funded by the Elks National Foundation, is a free throw contest for children ages 8-13. The contest is December 9th from 6-9pm at Shady Lane Elementary. Any questions, please contact Elks Director, Mr. Hancock at 414-587-6380.

Elks Essay Contest - Open to all 6th through 8th graders. This year’s topic is “Explain a Constitutional Right or Privilege and How it Affects You and Your Family”. The essay is due by December 15th and there is a monetary prize available. Please see the flyer for more information and details on how to enter.

Menomonee Falls Symphony Orchestra - Presents Chills, Thrills and Reels. An afternoon of haunting classics and iconic movie music featuring Psycho, Harry Potter and Jaws on October 24th at 2:30pm at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center on W220N6151 Town Line Rd., Sussex. You can pay with cash or tap to pay. Drop off and pick up will be on Garfield Dr. Please note, there is an event in the auditorium and parking will be limited on Garfield. Please arrive promptly to pick up your student and communicate with them where you’re picking them up.

LINK will be held today in Room 218 with Mrs. Lasota. As we are now over a month into school, if you’ve got any missing assignments or need some extra help getting homework done, you’re welcome to come to LINK. No registration is required, you may come whenever you need some extra help.
